wsg websense log database - sql 2014 support

we use triton 7.8.2 and ms sql server 2008 for its database. the company db administration has made a decision to upgrade to sql 2014 but websense informed us that it is not supported, at the newest sql2012 has support.

we would appreciate sql2014 support as soon as possible.

To increase the controls over Endpoint Print Screen is needed. The customer wants to screen capure incidents in some applications. But he wants to apply this policy in specific users, not all users. Is this possible. Or alternatively, not include forensic for screen capture. Can we change action plan for screen capture?

When we print a sheet of excel document, we don'tsee any incident. But when we copy the content to word document, then we print the word document, we see incident.

Websense Hybrid Web Security blackspider pop-ups

I just want to start a thread here on an issue that happened several weeks ago where our users are being prompted for authentication credentials with a pop-up, when things have been fine for over two years for us. I've opened a case, #01783640, and they are working on this issue. If you have a similar issue, open a case and be vocal about them working on a solution. So far they have not identified the issue.

 

The case has been escalated to the back line without word as to whats causing this. I heard that it could be part of the server farm upgrade they are doing, I've also heard it could have been a Microsoft update from several weeks ago. Regardless, they need to help us!

The customer wants hostname rather than ip addresses in switch policy server tab. Because they have 90 policy server. And they don't know which ip addresses belongs to which site.

Feature Request - not count upper and lower cases as unique

Currently, when using a dictionary, DSS counts every same phrases written in lower/upper cases. For example,

if I add "abcd" and "xyz" to the dictionary and define the treshold as 2 unique matches, It counts both "abcd" and "Abcd" ant triggers the incident. since the phrase is the same, I don't want it to be counted as 2 matches. 

Is it possible to add an option not count upper and lower cases as unique?

Feature Request - Add iCloud Mail to Internet Mail Category

We block internet mail and it does a good job of preventing our users from access webmail... except iCloud mail.  They can still access iCloud mail because it is not categorized as Internet Mail.


Compromised Websites - Why?

Is there anywhere we can get or find details as to why a website is categorized as a "Compromised Website" so I can document as to why a website unblock request is denied?  Just telling management or a partner their alma mater's website has been categorized as "compromised" doesn't always bode well.

Fresh Install: Websense Web Filter 7.8.2

Hi all,

I'm brand new to Websense / Triton products, I'm trying to get a new installation of our Websense Web Filter up and functional. Our former Websense Web Filter server has crashed hard (RAID controller / HDD failure). We're taking this opportunity to move to a fresh install of 7.8.2, and I'm currently stumped on what steps I need to take or may have missed. As our former server is currently inaccessible I am unable to access its configuration for reference.

New Server Hardware: Lenovo ThinkServer RD340, Xeon E5-2407 v2 @ 2.4 GHz, 24 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD.

New Server Software: Server 2012 R2 Standard, WebsenseTRITON782Setup.exe

Our out-of-action Websense server had been in place since before I joined the team, and documentation is sparse since the installation was handled by a third party we have ceased to do business with.

I have been following the Websense TRITON Enterprise Installation Guide v7.8.x, and also concurrently referencing the "Installation Instructions: Web Security and Web Filter" pdf.

Since our former server contained all components I have been tasked to replicate that with the new installation (I am fully aware of the numerous warnings regarding possible performance issues).

Currently installed on the new server:

I am able to access the Web Security dashboard through the TRITON Unified Security Center as the Super Administrator. We are not currently licensed for Data, Email or Mobile Security.

When I began writing this post the Health Status showed that the initial Master Database download had been interrupted and was in progress. I finished one MD download last night, another was in progress at 97 / 416 MB. I am currently unable to access any of the panels as I get the same result for each:
"System Temporarily Unavailable"

"System Temporarily Unavailable The TRITON management server is either down or initializing"

I have followed through the entire Initial Setup Checklist and have added a custom filter/policies and manually added all IP addresses we need filtered etc.

Right now I'm unsure as to what else I need to do, any pointers would be most appreciated, I think I've gone as far as I can with the documentation I have.

The only elements not installed via the setup.exe under "Web Security or RiskVision" are as follows:

Filtering and management: State Server

Filtering and management: Multiplexer

User Identification: eDirectory Agent

User Identification: RADIUS Agent

Integrations: Filtering Plug-in

Remote Filtering: Remote Filtering Server

Interoperability: Linking Service

Interoperability: Sync Server

Interoperability: Directory Agent

spam summary and PEM portal

I would like the spam summary to include the "from:" field in addition to the sender address. A lot of spam/maillist envelope header is unrecognizable to end users.

Also would like the same field in the PEM portal.

Would like the ability to modify the PEM notification template with adding info like "from" or header info.

 

Outbound Email Annotations based on Organisation Unit

Presentation Report XLS Output

Hello,

After working with support, its been found that Websense's XLS output is currently restrained to Excel 2003 limitations.  When running a presentation report of all User Activity Detail the row limitation is hit very quickly.  The suggestions of collecting less data is not acceptable in many environments.

The XLS output feature needs to be updated to accommodate higher levels of data.

Websense Express and Office 365 connectivity

Good Day all

 

I implemented a Websense Express system and now some of my users have issues connecting their outlook  client to the Office 365 cloud based e-mail system. it drops off but connects after some attempts, But it is mostly when they first log on or if they log back on after leaving or locking there system. Does anyone know anything about this issue?


Mobile Endpoint Client - Android - iOS - Windows 8.1 Mobile

We are using many more mobile devices now and have a requirement for users to be using the Websense Cloud Security.

 

As such a mobile version of the Endpoint Client would be greatly appreciated.

We use predominantly Android devices but also have a great many iOS and now also some Windows Mobile 8.1 too.

Hi everybody ;

This is my first post in Websense Community Forums. If I'm posting in wrong place, please warn me.

I'm quite new in Websense and this is my problem :

When I follow this way : Triton Manager > Web Security > Main > Reporting > Invesigative Reports, the "Names" tab is disabled. Its color is grey, I can't click it.

 

I have a screen-shot, but I don't know how to upload it to forum.

 

I've cleared the browser cache but nothing has changed. (Both Internet Explorer and Chrome)

If I schedule multiple report for end user Quarantine, 
in second report there are new quarantine mails and all mails present in first report. 

Is there a way to perform a second report without any mail include in first report? 

For Example: 

Desired behaviour 

First Report send at 7:00 am 

mail spam A 
mail spam B 
mail Sapm C 

Second Report send at 2:00 pm 

mail spam D 
mail spam E 

Actual behaviour

Having an issue with people who are accessing CFM pages

This may be a known issue, but I could not find it in the installation guides, but is there a way to get cfm pages to display with Hosted Websense.  I am assuming that I am blocking a category, but when a user goes to a .cfm page, they just get a generic websense page that says the page does not exist or is not functioning properly.  No category is being displayed, and if I turn off the Proxy configuration file, the page proceeds to load normally.  This is happening across several sites and the common theme is CFM files. 

Any help would be appreciated.
