When disabling network discovery tasks in DSS the past scan stats are reset.
Highlight scan>edit scan>scheduler>Uncheck enabled box
The historical data from the last completed scan would be quite useful.

PEM - would love the ability to "Allways Block" much like the "Allways Allow" dialog box
It would be handy to have the ability to "Always Block" or "Add to Blacklist" when deleting SPAM emails instead of having to manually enter addresses to the blacklist.

WebSense blackspider authentication windows pops up when forwarding an e-mail
Hello,
My user in marketing received an e-mail that looks like a coupon (html format, or css). The marketing user forwarded the same e-mail to a sales user.
The sales user opened the e-mail and wrote a response. As soon as the sales user clicks a Send button, he is prompted to authenticate against the WebSense ...blackspider.websense proxy. Authenticating using e-mail + domain pswd does not make the authentication window go away. My admin level privileges don't make the authentication box go away either. His outlook 2010 loops between clicking cancel and trying to authenticate. The only way to close everything down and end the loop is to end-task the Outlook process in task manager. This only happens with e-mails that have the same format
However, the e-mail is sent to everyone he replied to with his comments as if there were no issues. Anybody know how can I investigate this...I'm kind of stuck trying to figure out where to start.
P.S. I do not have access to the original html/css email and its headers...I only have my copy which is local to domain so the headers are blank.

Block via AD Computer Group
Hello,
I'm wondering if its possible to assign policies to an AD Computer Group. I've assigned policies to an AD Group that had users in it but never with computers. Can anyone tell me if this is possible?
If it isn't, how would I go about blocking a number of computers that have dynamic IP's and I'm unable to block by OU or user.

Cloud Web Security - Copy Policy Definitions
As a new user in the Websense Cloud Web Security product, I was looking for a way to create a 'starter' policy and use that to generate my specific policies for different groups of users. Documentation indicated that was a possiblility, but a call to the support team revealed that this functionality was recently removed from the Cloud product. I can use one of the four predefined templates (Default, Basic, Basic Security or Monitor Only) to create new policies. But, I can not use one of my existing policies as a starter.
I would dearly love to see this functionality restored.

Decreasing effectiveness of Email Security 7.3
My company has been using Email Security (now at version 7.3, the last) since the early days of it being Surf Control. Lately though, it seems that the amount of spam leaking through the cracks is increasing a significant amount, despite the server's update schedule running regularly.
I understand that this product is no longer getting version upgrades, but my question is: Is there any reason that it should be becoming less effective as time wears on, despite definition updates? What can I point to to try and figure out how to get a better detection rate without cranking up the false positives?
Is there any reason that the Email Security Gateway or other Websense products would do a better job of filtering our corporate mail compared to our Email Security 7.3 with all the latest definitions, and if so, how significant would you say that change would be?

Filtering on multiple VLANs

We just added a VLAN (#3) to our network to use as a guest network.
Computers on VLAN 1 are all domain joined.
Websense is running on a Dell Precision T5400 (Windows Server 2012 R2) with a dual port HP NC308T Network Card.
Each port on the network card is configured for both VLANs, presenting 4 virtual network cards to the operating system. Since traffic on the mirror port is still VLAN tagged, we can run Wireshark on either virtual port and get only the traffic from the corresponding VLAN.
After all that background information: Since we added VLAN 3, nothing has been blocked at all on either VLAN. We can see all the traffic on Wireshark, but the Real-Time Monitor shows nothing. The Usage information also only appears sporadically - for example, right now, it is only showing one out of the last 7 days.
Has anyone ever seen this issue?
Is there a better way to configure our network? At another building, we have the filter connected through a 100mbps hub. The filtering works great, but that slows down any gigabit connection (like any access to 10.10.0.0/24) which have to pass through the hub.

Block direct access to IP addresses ( use DNS names only )
Hi Everyone,
We want to block any request through Webfiter 7.5 to an IP address, so all requests should be a FQDN.
This was a simple easy 2 second task on our old squidguard system but I can't find a simple solution here.
I thought I could use a regex and websens has an example of using regex

Block Apple IOS Updates - iPads and iPhones
We are running Websense Web Security 7.7.3.1147 with a Cisco ASA.
Is there a way to block IOS updates through Websense? We have a BYOD program in our school. Many students have iPads and iPods. During this time of year when Apple releases a new IOS, everyone tries downloading the latest update and kills our Internet.
The iPads and iPods get a default policy that blocks the basics - adult, malware, etc.

Web Security used with Barracuda NG Firewall
We currently have Cisco ASA firewalls but are converting our sites to use Barracuda NG Firewalls - management directive.
Has anyone been able to get Websense and Barracuda NG firewalls to work together?

Websense Support is VERY VERY POOR. Technicians are not responsive
Who are Managers or VP of this group. Should be replaced !!!!
Hard to recommend Websense to others due to unresponsive and poor support.
I have Premium Support (24 X 7 Severity 1), but it is hard to create a Severity 1 case during non business hours.
No response from Tech Support adds to the frustration levels. Filtering must be disabled in order for business to continue when there is a Websense issue.

We currently use Websense on Windows 2012 R2 with Cisco ASA.
Replacing Cisco ASA with Barracuda NG Firewalls
It would be nice if Websense could support Barracuda NG firewall or at least provide a How To tech article on configuring both Barracuda NG and Websense options so web security can work.

Websense Endpoint & Fiddler
Does anyone know how to allow Fiddler to work with Websense Endpoint? I have a group of developers who use Fiddler as part of their job but it works by configuring a proxy on your browser so it can capture / view the website data. Endpoint does not allow changes to be made to a system's internet settings, so how do we get Fiddler to work?

Web Endpint Installation
Hi Websense Dev. Team,
Are you planning to improve the Endpoint Installation method. We are a global company with 370 employee, all our system migrated into the Cloud. I try to manage everything from here Dublin/Ireland with more less success. Currently we added PAC file to the local PCs, i can 't monitor if all of them set up Websense on them local PC or turned off. I'd get Endpoint installed, on each PC, bu ti'm sure our employees are not able to navigate in them file system using CMD prompt, they are Fund Accountants not technical people.
I'm wondering is there any other way to add the WSCONTEXT value in different way? Are you planing to change the End point installation method?
