we use triton 7.8.2 and ms sql server 2008 for its database. the company db administration has made a decision to upgrade to sql 2014 but websense informed us that it is not supported, at the newest sql2012 has support.
we would appreciate sql2014 support as soon as possible.

Email Security has a future to set the type of each trusted mail relay. Because the list 'Trusted ip's' in ESGateway functions as an open relay type this kind of functionallity is very welcome.

Using the Websense V5000 G2 appliance V7.8.3
Our support technicians use the local administrator account on a windows machine when they need to run updates to software (Adobe, MS Office apps, etc.. )
Our default user policy prohibits users from downloading the updates. So when the technician logs in as local admin, they are getting blocked by websense because it thinks they are logged in as the previous user and not the local admin on the box.
Is there an easy way to setup a policy on WebSense to allow a local admin on a machine to use a specific policy we setup to allow update downloads?

I performed a new installation, WSG 7.8.3. Triton running under Windows 2008 R2 and the CG is running under LINUX.
The problem here is that after i enable WCCP and setting up the services 0 (http) and 70 (https), an alert message "The ARM kernel module is not loaded with ARM enabled" appears.
Alsohappensto have beenimpossible tomake workproperly WCCP under switch(CISCO6500).

This is not useful for us seeing we manage 4 locations with 1 Triton Windows machine.
These locations all have a different connection.
I just install the Content Gateway v7.8.3 on Centos 6.5. Everything install as planned, but it will not connect to our Policy Server. Our policy and filtering service are both on the same machine. Firewalls are both off, SELINUX is disabled. Nothing that I change changes the outcome. I started checking the logs and this is what I keep getting:

We have a Cisco ASA which has two separate and isolated networks that use it. We also have two separate Websense Filtering servers. We would like each of the networks to use their own filtering server, if it is possible. I've read on specifying multiple "url-server" statements in the ASA, but so far I'm not seeing a way to have each network use its own filtering server.
Can this be done?

Currently preserve 'Last Accessed' timestamps is an available option when performing File Discovery tasks. (From Triton > Data Security > (Policy Management) > Discovery Policies > Network Discovery Tasks.
Feature Request: When performing File Fingerprinting tasks (from Triton > Data Security > (Policy Management) Content Classifiers > File Finger Printing) an option to preserver 'Last Accessed' timestamp would be very useful.

I have a setting with a main server and several filtering services on different sites.
Today I restarted my server due to a Windows update, and when it came back, my config.xml was truncated and the config.xml.bak was truncated. (imho this defeats the purpose of having a config.xml.bak file).
I don't have any backups of this file anywhere. however I saw there is a config.xml file on every other slave server.
I copied it and all the services are comming up, but I have problems logging in.
Can I simply replace the config.xml from any of the other servers? if so, do I have to change anything on the configuration to allow it to function propperly?
Currently the services are starting up, but I can't logi into the site, the error:

While walking through my company's Websense configuration, I noticed that Gateway Server Manager is at a different release level than all the other installed components. That is, the Deployment page shows all components at 7.8.2, except for Gateway Server Manager which it shows at 7.7.3.
Is the information on the Deployment page accurate?
If so, is this a significant issue?
If we were to plan an upgrade to resolve this issue, what upgrade package do I need to look for on the Support Portal?

Generate an alert to a recipient list if a user is searching for or visiting web sites that have specific subjects such as:
when in the Alert session of the websense content gateway console is present the alert "'A client exceeded the 100 per second connection rate limit' " would be very useful add the client that exceeded the limit.
Is very hard for the medium user discover the IP of that client looking in the \var\log\messages file.. so would be better an immediate feedback on the console
..i'm sure it would be not too hard to implement...
Websense will not properly intercept traffic when running on a VMware vSphere environment if using the VMXNET3 network adapter.
As a workaround, the E1000 (Intel) network adapter will allow Websense to capture the traffic.

Maybe create a menu called "Tasks" and have them reside there. Their current location is not quite intuitive.

Hi,
We are going to upgrade from Websense Security Filter 7.1 to 7.8.3 and we are testing it right now on a virtual server.
What we have going on right now is our live server is running Windows Server 2003 with Websense Web security filter 7.1 installed. i used the wsbackup utility from the KB's to backup the policies and filter settings and that worked just fine.
On the test server, which is Windows Server 2012, on a virtual machine, with Triton Unified Security Center with web security and filter 7.8.3 installed. The instructions for restoring the old files into the new system are not very clear and just says to run wsbackup -r -f archive_file.tar.gz in a command prompt. That's pretty much all it says. I assume that "archive_file.tar.gz" is supposed to be replaced with the name of the backup I got from the 7.1 server. Also, I am assuming that I need to run the command prompt as administrator. When I run the command it takes a while to give me anything and then says it is "starting the critial stage....." and after that it says "Starting New Diagnostics..." "std::runtime_error: Cannot start the service" "ERROR BackupRestore - Process failed: exit code: 1"
Apparently whatever it did it turned off a very large majority of the Websense services. not a problem but now the policy database, policy server, rtm server, and the usage monitor will not turn back on. I can't get the admin web console to come up and I am at a complete loss as to what to try next.
Can someone explain what is going on and let me know if I need to provide any more information.
How do I stop users from bypassing the filter? Some of my users are finding ways to bypass the filter. Is there any way to prevent this?
