I am having an issue getting a list of all dc in my environment. Websense doesn't appear to be creating the dc_config.txt file. I created one but only added 2 DC's but it seems to be caching from the original file. How do I kill everything and have it regenerate? I want Websense to create the txt file needed. The DC service is using an account that has Domain Admin credentials.
Currently, when accumulating transactions under a rule, the smallest time listed is 5 minutes. This is too great an amount and we would like to be able to choose 1 minute or 30 seconds.
In Triton you can configure which options the user get in their PEM notification email.
But when receiving this email, on the bottom all Notification message links are shown, instead of making it dependant ont the options selected in Triton.
For example if i choose to disallow "Always Block", the notification on the bottom is still shown.
This would lead to user queries why they do not see the option.
Example :
Notification message links:
Web Access: Personal Email Manager log on page.
Always Block: Add the sender email address to your personal Always Block
List.
Always Permit: Add the sender email address to your personal Always
Permit List.
Delete: Delete the undelivered message from your Quarantined Messages
List.
Not Spam: Report that the message should not be classified as spam and
release the message for delivery to your inbox.
Deliver: Release the message from the quarantine queue.
So the request is to make the items in "notification message links" dependant to the options selected in the administration control panel.

I have three Network Agent servers, and two of them are unable to downlaod the latest master database today. I have lots of disk space (only using about 3% of the total with the previous database already downloaded). I do not have a proxy server, and none of my network has had any recent changes. I am able to access the Internet on both servers.
When I go to the database download screen and start the download by hitting the Update button, it starts the downlod fine. But is says it is downloading a total of 23 megabytes. I know for a fact that the databse is a lot larger than that. The progress bars in the download window make it to the end of downloading, decompressing, and updating and then it fails every time. Any suggestions would be greatly apprciated. Thanks!
We applied hotfix 8 to our Websense Email security server. Install completed successfully. However, the scheduled task 'Index Maintenance weekly' fails. It does not run at the scheduled time, nor does it run manually. This task ran successfully before applying hotfix 8.
I tried the procedure below to rebuild the URLDatabase which succeeded, but the Index still failed.
Procedure:
When you upgrade CatEngine, you must have Email Security regenerate index files. This takes about 1 hour, and Rules Service will not handle any email during this time. Do not restart or stop Rules Service to interrupt the process. In the rare case there is an error initializing the ITD Scanning Engine in the Monitor client, delete the folder 'URLDatabase' then run the Scheduler task, "Master Internet Threat Database Update Daily," to fix it.
What does the Index maintenance weekly task do and do we need this functionality? If it is needed, then how do I get it to run?

Installed Endpoint for policy testing on my MacBook. Everything worked great, I uninstalled the Endpoint client from system preferences. When I open up a webpage I still get a notice to login or register, or if I open up an app I get a popup to login to websense. I tried the manual uninstall as well with no luck. Any Help ...

We have been using Websense for two years now, thankfully our contract will soon be up for renewal. Technical and customer support is by far the worst of any service company I currently deal with. Initial responses from support staff are inadequate, effectively emailing you to say they have the problem noted. Then nothing for days at a time. We currently have a case which has had no response from Websense for twenty five days. Is that acceptable?
We are using the V5000G2 appliance, and each patch release is worse than the last. I have never been able to successfully get a patch installed without it breaking other parts of the product or requiring several remote sessions to get it working. It’s not good enough for the price you pay
Websense is an overcomplicated product which is disjointed and difficult to manage. It requires a lot of internal support hours to have it running effectively. There are very few technical consultants with Websense that I have worked with which are actually knowledgably about the product and able to support it well. Often the support consultant expects you to know the product inside out, I’m sorry but this is why we pay for support!
I would not be happy recommending Websense to anyone and it will be difficult to be persuaded to stick with this product.

In the customer environment, every Saturday the job "wslogdb77.dbo.USP_DBMANAGER_TASK" is executed and it fails with the message down below:
" Executed as user: test_user. User does not have permission to perform this action. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 15247). The step failed."
We asked the customer, to use "sa" account, but for reasons of security they can't do it, so what permission should I give to user "test_user" to be able to run the job "wslogdb77.dbo.USP_DBMANAGER_TASK" ?
I did a test in SQL server, and I just could run the"usp_dbmanager_task" with success, when I used an account with"Sysadmin" role, so in this case, even with db_owner I was unable to perform the task, I tried all combination and I still received access permission errors, after I changed to "Sysadmin" I could perform the task without any problem. What Can I do in this case?

If we change the IP of the remote SQL server, does the WS TRITON Setup need to be re-run to update the configuration or will it suffice to update the Reporting / Log Server entry via TRITON console?

Need some help.
Trying to allow users to download content from DropBox however they are currently unable to.
We have set the catergory on websense; Personal Network Storage and Backup as..... 'Notify'.
this means anytime users hit this catergory they have the option to agree terms and click continue to access the site.
My dielemma is:
When downloading content from Dropbox, Dropbox throws a message saying:
Normal 0 false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE
Cannot connect to the real dl.dropboxusercontent.com
After running the TestLogserver.exe tool to establish the hits from the user i can see the category as permitted.
The Above URL AND Dropbox.com (port 80 and 443) is added onto the exception list
If the policy is set to Notify when accessing the Network Storage and Backup category how can the user click on continue? There is no opions or pop up to do so.
All sounds a bit complicated but in a nutshell im trying to allow access for users to DOWNLOAD content from dropbox with a proxy server that has the category set to NOTIFY.

User agent export/ listing - We would like to have the option to list all user agents in the Reporting \ application \ search tab and /or having the option to export all user agent type that is being used into an Excel. This way we can determine the non-web browser user agents.
Real-Time Monitoring
This function is the most effective way for troubleshooting issues with the user. Not sure if there is any reason why we cannot have more column like user agent, protocol, port or all that is available in the investigating reports or anything that can be displayed. We wouldn't need this all the time but when investigating it would be a nice feature.

If we count one export 5 min it would mean 84*5 minutes.It would easier to maintain(we need it for 90 days at a minimum) and audit if it would be in a SQL database.
Hi. I would like to make a couple of feature requests about traffic limits
A couple of my customers have a very slow internet access, say 2-4 mbps for 500-1000 people in organization. They were previously using Squid proxy to limit the amount traffic, available for each user daily, for example 100Mb a day.
They have purchased Websense Triton products and they really lack such functionality in WCG now.
So the features, I would like to see are:
1. Limit overall bandwidth of WCG, so that it does not take the entire channel, because there is a number of services, working outside of WCG.
2. Set bandwidth limits per user
3. Create a traffic quota action for filters, simmilar to current time quota, but using some N megabyte sessions, instead of N minutes sessions.
Does anyone have an example configuration of doing http AND https filtering via WCCP in an IOS Router?
I've seen bits and pieces but an example would be super helpful.

We require the abilty for Quarantine Administrators to delete within the Workflow menu of DLP.
All of a sudden since late Friday, 3/7, my 7.8.1 Web Security installaiton gets this. I rebooted the server. When I use IE from the server, I can browse to any website.
How can I troubleshoot this? Thank you!

On Websense 7.8.1 you can go to the "applications" tab under "reporting" on the side bar. There it shows you the users being filtered and the platform they're using to connect to the web.
On my company's network a lot of our users are connected through wifi, so we have to filter those subnets.
Unfortunately, this means that a lot of mobile devices get filtered as well, iPhones, Android phones, Blackberries. And those devices end up taking up space for the maximum number of users we can filter.
I figure that since websense can already see what platform any given user has to connect, that websense should be able to exclude those users from being filtered. However, aside from resorting to not filtering the entire wireless network (which is a no-go,) I can't find a way to do this.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
