Problem:
Upper management may sometimes get blocked from work-related sites and because of the internal process for submitting a reclassifcation request, do not receive access for several days.
Proposed solution:
A button on the block page that would place the site into a user-defined category. There would be one user-defined category per policy so when users in the management policy reclassify a site, users in other policies would have not necessarily have access.
Is it possible to apply policies for mobile devices such as iPhones and Androids so that Websense recognises it?
We've started to roll out Mobile devices, but at the moment I have applied a policy on the IP subnets allocated to the mobile network.
Potentially I would like to apply different Websense policies for different mobile users.
We're currently using Websense Websecurity with eDirectory.

We are facing an issue with websense , While browsing internet some users are getting block message for valid websites. The url category is allowed for user, when we check the logs we are able to see user is being authenticated with anonomus logon, This issue is happening for many users now.
Request you to look into this issue ASAP & provide us a solution.

We are moving to Websense from another product and I was looking for a monthly reporting feature . I logged a couple of support tickets and was told on the second ticket that data is only kept for 30 days so that is the reporting limit.
Does anyone else find this odd? I have to produce monthly reports for auding and compliance reasons for the year. I need to just set a calendar monthly report for variious report types and I am done. For the sake of one days data I could have a true monthly report. Most other system I deal with offer monthly reporting.
Is this too much to request?

We do not want to upgrade our current system, we want to start fresh on the newest version. Will my subscription key for 7.1 work on the newest version without taking an upgrade path?

We would like to be able to automate the exporting of the audit log reports to be imported into our Arcsight system.
I need some help as I am not understanding something. I have a brand new all in one deployment for a customer, it's a small network, that is management, network agent and policy server are on the same server. The Websense is integrated with a Cisco ASA.
The issue I am having is with users getting around the http block page. For example http://www.youtube.com gets blocked but https://www.youtube.com is not. I have read the KB article and the ASA is configured to send https traffic to Websense. Is there something else that I need to do on Websense for it to block the user trying to access youtube over https?

I have a brand new Websense 7.7 deployment integrated with a Cisco ASA and the end client gave a very inaccurate count for the license count so as a result they are getting the exceeded limit error and filtering is not working as expected.
Is there anyway I can remove servers or any other end hosts that do not require filtering so that they are not counted against the license? Thanks.
I've currently taken over a role at my job of being the websense admin. Currently we are running a server with version 6.3.2 for the majority of our users. There is also a 2nd server running 7.1 that is mostly used by the IT dept as a test. We are currently looking to upgrade to the current version. We have a new server running Windows server 2008r2 to use for this. My plan is to get it installed on the new server and get it setup and phase out the old servers. My question would be what is the best way to accomplish this? I've seen that to do regular upgrades you have to upgrade to certain versions before you can go to higher versions, does this hold true even when moving to a new server? I'm pretty new to websense so any help will be greatly appreciated!
I have installed a new server at a second location for filtering at that site (Location B) and would like to move the Policy Broker from the server at Location A over while leaving server A in place to filter at that location. Both servers are running Websense Web Security 7.6.5. Server A is running Server 2003 R2 and Server B is running Server 2008 R2. Both are fully patched.
I went through the process of backing up the database using "pgsetup" and restoring it to the new server as well as manually updating the "Data Token" in the config.xml file, but I'm not sure how to get Server A to now point to Server B for the policies. Can anyone help shed some light on this? I tried searching the forums but it was fruitless.
I should also mention that when trying to log into Server B's websense admin page I received the message that it is configured to have Server A be the policy broker. I'm not sure if I missed something along the way but any input would be appreciated.

I recently upgraded my install to 7.6.7 from 7.6.2 and now my policy server refuses to start. I tried going through the various KB articles but nothing seems to work. Running it with debug I get the following:

I had our DBAs carve up a MSSQL instance on another 2008R2 Server (Websense_DB\Websense). Tried to setup the database using the manual method found on "Article Number: 000001356." The user account websense is a sysadmin and the port to connect to is 40024. On Websense_DB\Websense I had a share created called "\Websense_DB\Websense" which my domain ID has RW access to. I have confirmed connectivity via telnet to ensure this is not a firewall issue. Under ODBC Data Source Administrator (SysWow64\odbcad32), I have confirmed wslogdb70 has connected successfully. I am an admin on Websense but not on the Websense_DB server. Also tried changing the share directory to the same as the master db, still no change - same error. I have also tried reinstalling the Log Server.

We are currently running Websense Web Security 7.7 and SQL 2008. We are intermittently experiencing issues where the log server service is causing the dbo.WsAssignGroup stored procedure to run every few milliseconds on the SQL server. This is causing massive CPU performance hits which is also affecting other databases on the SQL server. Restarting the Log Server service resolves the issue for a couple weeks before it occurs again.
We were initially logging to SQL using ODBC but have since changed to BCP to see if that resolved the issue, however the issue persists.
Has anyone got suggestions on what might be causing this issue and how we might resolve it?

We are using Websense 6.3 and have been for some time with no issues. This morning i have restarted the server as i have done many times before. When manually restarting the services after the reboot the Websense Filtering Service (Websense EIM Server) starts and then immediately stops.

We are having an issue where Websense will just stop blocking sites. Sometimes it will also sporadically allow access to sites that are blocked and then all of the sudden start blocking again. If the server is rebooted the problem seems to go away for a few days but then comes back. What would be the best way to troubleshoot this issue? We are currently running version 7.7
