Today I was presented with mail from a domain that was apparently getting blocked by the Reputation/DNS Blacklist, and we are using the SurfControl Reputation Service. I was going through the header information for this email and what immediately caught my attention was that this company is using IPv6 internally; there was only one IPv4 email address tagged on the email that didn't belong to us and it came up clean using the nslookup verification method. My only guess is that it got blocked because it's IPv6 and we're still using an older version of SurfControl (6.0.1). (It is coming through now that I've added their domain to the exclude list.)
Questions: What are our options for getting mail working with IPv6, or at least so that we can receive from companies that are using it now? We do still have support and maintenance so if it's a simple matter of updating I could look into that but I've held off of updating so far because the server this is installed on is an old overworked Win2003 server and I hate to add any more load to it. I don't think I could talk upper management into getting a gateway device type setup until more companies complain about not being able to get mail through and I don't want to wait for the problem to boil over if there is something I can do now. Any thoughts would be appreciated... thanks in advance!
