Websense Web Security is blocking Skype

Settings in policy are to allow Skype but blocks are still occurring.  I see them in RTM.  Tried adding exceptions for blocked IP addresses but still fails and still shows the blocks.

I don't want to burn a support case on an issue that shouldn't be an issue.  But maybe if it is a bug they can credit the support case?

Is there any special configuration needed to allow Skype to get through Websense Web Security (network agent deployment) ?

 

 

 


"Error creating the user" when trying to add an administrator in TRITON Settings

Good day!

I receive an error message when trying to add some Network Account users as administrators in the TRITON Settings, while I'm able to add others. The error message I get is:

Error creating the user xxxxxx : A general error has occurred.
Error creating the user xxxxxx : A detailed message was written to the server's log file, the message can be identified as xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I don't know where is the server's log file. Closest thing I found is in the Windows 2008 Application logs. I have an error related to eventID 0, source PostgreSQL, saying: "ERROR: numeric field overflowDETAIL: A field with precision 32, scale 0 must round to an absolute value less than 10^32."
Websense version is 7.7.3 using Web Security only, running on a Windows 2008 SP2.
Any help would be appreciated.

Exclusions from Logging

My issue is that my server traffic is included in the logs and reports. This is making all my reports really hard to read, and we have no use for that data.

My Client setup is based on Networks, and my server farm is not included in the network range. That setting option seems to only have an effect on the policy and not logging.

How can I exclude part of my network from logging? or, exclude the user "administrator" from the reports/logs.

Should PEM delete messages from the queue when the user selects to delete them?

We are running Email Security v7.3.

Our users are doing a good job of reviewing their blocked messages and deleting them from PEM.  We have noticed that even though the user deletes the messages from PEM, it remains in the queue until it times out (7 days in our case).  Shouldn't it be removed from the queue as well?   If the messages stay in the queue, it gets very large.

Is this functioning correctly?

Websense 7 Manager Timeout

Hi,

I was wondering if there was a way to change the default timeout of 30 minutes to something more reasonable? 30 minutes is rediculous. It also times out the Investigative Reports when open in a new window causing me to lose what I had on the screen.

At least in Websense 6 you could change the timeout to something more reasonable.

How do a I as a Superuser reset a user secure messaging account?  We have a client that forgot their password and the answer to the security question so they cannot reset their password.

Android Jealy bean 4.3 not surf , apps not working

Hi , 

2 Gateways , WCCP V2 (Layer 2)

No autehntication , just filter base on source ip address 

 

Android clients Jealy Bean 4.3 can not surf (page can not be dispayed) apps which use port 80 does not work.

All other clients work perfect (iphone ,. ipad ,  laptops) 

 

Any suggestions ?

Incorrect Source IP in Investigative Reports

Triton is incorrectly reporting the source IP for some users in Investigative Reports. In one case it attributed multiple users as having a source IP of 58.245.96.222, which is a Chinese IP. Triton continued to show that as a source IP for users even after we blocked it at the Firewall and they are on our LAN.

Anybody ever seen this happen?

Old DC Agent entries in Domain List

So we had an old DC Agent that no longer exists, and we removed it from the config in Triton. However, its entries still show up in "View Domain List" and are duplicate with the entries for the DC's on the new Agent. How can I remove the old DC agent entries?

Safe Search not working on IE11 with Google seach engine

Hi All,

Currently using web filter 7.7.3.1147 I am having and issue with safe search. I have had the search filtering enabled form some time now and it works ok.

but I have having an issue with IE11 in that safe search is not enabled on it. for all other search engines e.g. bing, yahoo etc. safe search is enabled and works fine.

our organisation runs on IE8 at minute and safe search is enabled and working fine on google for ie8 we are going to upgrade to ie11 soon and would like this issue resolved. is there any hotfixes or should I be upgrading to 7.8.4

it appears to be with google just as I have tried it with firefox and ii am having the same issue

Has anyone upgraded to 8.0? Websense have changed the naming to Triton AP-WEB. Has anyone had any issues upgrading from this path? I'm thinking to upgrade our appliances currently running Web, Data and Email.

My Websense don´t send alert because my SMTP server work with port 701 and default port in Websense is 25.

Here I can change it in Websense 7.7.0?

Currently running a multi site setup with a filtering server at each location. Site 1 is currently running on a Server 2003 box that is being replaced and Site 2 is running on Server 2008 R2 and is the policy broker.

 

I want to upgrade to at least 7.8 but if there is a stable version of 8.0 and the upgrade is worth doing then I'll gladly go that route. In order to upgrade to 7.8 I have to first upgrade to 7.7 but I cannot locate a download link for the installer for Web Security 7.7.

 

Is my best bet for retiring the old server 2003 box to upgrade the policy broker at site 2 and stand up a new server in place of the server 2003 box at site 1 or should I export the config and import it into the 7.7 installation and continue rolling through the software releases? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.


Block Page no show during https website is block in new brower

In my case, I found that Chrome, IE11  cannot show the block page in the case of SSL website. No matter I use proxy or firewall web filter function. 

the error message showing in the chrome is as below:

Worth upgrading from 7.8.1 to 7.8.4?

Both of my websense servers are currently running version 7.8.1 - is it worth upgrading to 7.8.4?  There are no performance/filtering issues that I know of, but I always like to stay up to date with our security components.  Also we only utilize Websense web security at this time.

If i have upgraded the TRITON server hosting policy broker, policy server, filtering server services and need to upgrade the appliance. Does the appliance stop working immediately after the patch install in initiated, as the appliance is still pinging or is it only during the reboots?

Certificate error after upgrade

I have upgraded out appliances to 7.8.1, the secondary seems fine however when primary is used every website i go to displays a certificate error, both appliances are in Management cluster mode?

Please advise.
