i'm not able to download the master database on our filtering servers. both servers are able to connect to internet. suddenly this issue happened and no changes were done on the servers.

I have an employee that is needing to open an ebook. This ebook is downloaded as an acsm file. We have Adobe Digital Edition (ADE) associated in Windows to acsm files. The purpose of this file is to communicate with Adobe’s content server and register the ebook to your Adobe ID. This is where it breaks down and stops with an error message. I have gone as far as assigning this user to the "Permit All" policy which permits all categories and permits all protocols. Even after assignment to the permit all policy the user is unable to open the ebook. I then took the proxy out of the Internet settings to completely bypass Websense and the ebook loaded without error.
The error message that we receive in ADE is:
Unable to download
Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem:
E_STREAM_ERROR
We are using V5000 G2 running on version 7.8.1.
Has anyone else ran into this issue and if so what did you do to correct this issue?
Does Websense have any kind of a bypass that Adobe's authentication servers can be added to?

Our customer L&T using all 3 products of Websense with total of 15,000 licenses are unable to get the logs of Who & When the DLP endpoints are removed & Installed.
As customer works on Govt projects data security is important.

Our customer L&T wants to have Work Flow management for policy creation/modification.
For e.g If any policy needs to be changed/ implemented, Head of Information Security / Business Head will create it & needs to be approved by CISO . Hence within Websense they want authorization to implement it.
This is now the second time that I've come across this issue. A URL gets classified under "Black-List", but it is not listed under the black-list. The only way to permit access to the URL is to completely unblock it.
We're running Web Security 7.6.0.
Is there another hidden black list somewhere that I'm not seeing? Or is this a bug somewhere that, even though a URL is removed from the custom black list, Websense still thinks it's in there?
Any assistance or information would be appreciated.

We had a hardware issue on our SQL cluster and the catalog database got corrupted. We restored a backup copy of the catalog database which is about 1 month old. Now, the last months data databases do not appear in my reports.
How do I add this databases back into the catalog database so that I can do reports on them? Can I just add the missing partition into the dbo.wse_partition table?
We are running version 7.7.3.
Earlier today, I changed the Webcatcher daily schedule. However the Webcatcher.log file shows that the Webcatcher did not actually run at the scheduled time.
For example at 15:00 I changed the Webcatcher to run at 15:15 but the log shows no activity at 15:15.
Is there a process to restart to get Webcatcher to run again for test purposes?
Or does it only run once per day?

I sent in an official "enhancement request", but it seems WebSense will not provide a better or more readable output for their "export Policies" button.
I suggested, that instead of all the Categories and Protocols in a single line down the page (THOUSANDS of lines, and lots of extranious information), that it list the Categories down, and columns of Policies tabbed across the top. Similar to this example below: (This took me 4+ hours to manipulate from their layout):

After upgrading from 7.8.2 to 7.8.3 this weekend, we were unable to deploy settings to CG and other servers. (Only ICAP settings to Protectors worked, which we don't even use.) It turned out that 7.8.3 now connects to the archive share as part of the deploy process; in addition to that, we use logonWorkstations to restrict service account access, and JCIFS uses a random string as the computer name (fixed by adding jcifs.netbios.hostname=SERVERNAME in catalina.properties, see http://jcifs.samba.org/src/docs/ntlmhttpauth.html#adpolicy).
Anyway, if the Deploy process fails, it should provide more details in the UI as to what went wrong. I had to enable debug logging to chase down the issue, which seems extreme.
Additionally, if the installer finds a config file that's been modified during an upgrade, it should notify the admin and either rename the file (so changes can be merged if needed) or merge the changes itself.
It would also have been nice to have this particular issue fixed without a workaround; I had submitted case 01623147 to determine the correct workaround.

RHEL6 was released in 2010 and RHEL7 was released last month but your support only goes up to 5.x. I was told when I bought the product that it would protect my RHEL machines - please create a client that will allow me to do so.

Our current configuration is Webfilter 7.1 loaded on a Windows Server 2003 R2 box with the database residing on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server running SQL Server 2000.
I would like to get upgraded to the latest Webfilter version (7.8.3?). I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine ready for the installation and a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine with SQL Sqerver 2008 R2 ready for the database.
So how do I get from point A to point B?

I would like to suggest the following GUI echancement:
If we filter for a content classifier and then click on it, modify it and saving it the GUI will drop back us to the content classifier list however the filtering is cleared and we need to filter the content classifiers again.
I think it would be good if the filtering is not deleted or cleared once we finished editing the content classifier.

Currently, we are using DNS round-robin based method for load-balancing the user traffic across 4 V10K.
We have created a Round-Robin DNS record and add all the P Interface Ip address in it. The user traffic is load-balanced all. There are many limitation in this as we can use traffic getting populated to a particular v10K most of the time. Traffic sent to the v10K server which is down as the DNS Cache still resolves to the dead v10K.
Websense to come up with their own version of Load-balancing ( like Microsoft ISA NLB) which will be take care of fail-over as well as Load-balancing.

Some of our customers have been seeing curruption of the HSW config files, resulting in the client not working correctly. It is believed that this has been caused due to 3rd party software, such as SEP and Becrypt, being present on the device builds.
Can the WEP client be tested against 'outside interferance' when installed alongside common security products that are likely to be used by customers.

Business case
Using CWSG only for roaming user and remote site with web endpoint and include Explicit On-premise proxy (other vendor) for two range of public IP
Web Endpoint will force Websense PAC file on Internet browser and Application and we would like a total transparency for end users if they are inside or outside corporate network
Note : avoid to change manually settings inside Internet Browser even if new Web Endpoint generation provides this feature when we can not connect on Internet
Any advice or feedback about similar business case or any information to build custom CWSG pac file will be highly appreciated.

I'm wondering if its possible to assign policies to an AD Computer Group. I've assigned policies to an AD Group that had users in it but never with computers. Can anyone tell me if this is possible?
If it isn't, how would I go about blocking a number of computers that have dynamic IP's and I'm unable to block by OU or user.

Hey all, I have 2 v10000 G3 appliance, and I am running Triton 7.8.3. We are running in transparent mode using WCCP. I am hoping, and trying to get authentication to try IWA first for our domain Joined PCs and then use the XID running on the triton server. Global authentication settings are set to fail open for all authentication settings, however everyone is getting prompted for credentials.
Also when I use explicit proxy, it works fine and no prompts. Any ideas? Thanks!
