Hi,
Can anyone share their thoughts on how best to translate SC rules to Websense Webfilter?
In SC, we created rules containing the domain group of users to which they should apply. So, for instance, we have a rule that allows 'Travel and Admin', which we assign to an active directory group of users called 'Proxy HR', and maybe another group called 'Proxy Finance'. If a user is a member of that AD group, then that particular rule would apply.
I'm now trying to understand how Websense Filters and Policies work. I can see that in creating a Filter, you can restrict access to either 1 category or several categories, all within that filter. Then, when you create a policy, you can assign that particular filter to it. Then, that Policy would be assigned to an Active Directory Group(s).
The question is, can a policy contain MORE than 1 filter, whcih can apply all the time (no time limits). So, for instance, if I create an IT policy, I'd like to include a filter that allow IT-related sites, and also a filter that allows shopping-related sites, and so on.
I hope I am understanding this correctly.
I'd be interested in your comments/experiences from when you migrated to Websense from SC.
Thanks.
