policy server managing lower version remote filtering service

Hi All,

We are planning to upgrade a Distributed environment of websense.

Understood from several websense document that order of upgrade is 1) policy broker 2) policy server 3) filtering service.

Now the doubt here is consider the upgrade of policy borker and policy server is done to say version 7.8 and filtering service is still at version 7.7 then in this interim situation, will policy server be able to manage the filtering service by configuring new policy, etc.
