Hi,
Background:
Customer had old version of Websense server on Windows 2003.
Some time ago they replaced this with 2 x V5000 G2's running 7.7.
They have a number of old Citrix Presentation Server 4.0 used by a large number of users.
Previously Websense applied correct policies to users logging in via Citrix based on their AD Group membership.
Now (since moving to 7.7) all users logged in via Presentation Server 4 receive the same default policy.
Websense support and the release notes have confirmed that as of 7.7 presentation server is no longer supported.
This leaves them unable to apply policies on a per user basis using the Citrix Plugin for Websense. You can apply a policy based on the IP address of the server but everyone logged on via the server will get the same policy and they don't want this.
Following a bit of digging and follow up with Websense they suggested:
“If you have a proxy (Websense Content Gateway Manager) you could attempt to use Cookie Based Proxy Authentication and this while not certified may work for your needs.”
Options I gave the customer:
- Live with it. - they don't want to do this.
- Upgrade Presentation server to something from this centaury - they don't want to do this - too expensive.
- Try the Cookie Based Proxy Authentication - they don't like the 'not certified' and 'may work'.
They have come back asking to downgrade 7.7 to 7.6 which does support Presentation Server 4.0.
Is this possible? How can it be done? Can the policies be exported from 7.7 and imported to 7.6? And what's the Support Road Map for 7.6 - i.e. someone please tell me 7.6 will go out of support soon so they shouldn't do this!
Any help greatly appreciated!
Regards,
Anthony.
